Mutual Aid Food Project
A grassroots organization that provides weekly boxes of fresh, organic vegetables to Black women with incarcerated family members. The collective also provides agricultural education programs and builds gardens in transitional housing.
Five Points Youth Foundation works with the collective to bring regenerative food systems to neighborhoods in South L.A. that have been starved of nutritious, pesticide-free fruits and vegetables.
“Paint-Out” Beautification
South L.A. Neighborhood Rejuvenation
Since 2016, Five Points Youth Foundation has sponsored an annual “Paint-Out” neighborhood beautification to rejuvenate their local South L.A. district.
Members of the community come out to watch the artists at work, while also enjoying food, fashion, fun, world famous artists and open mic sessions. Dozens of aerosol artists create dazzling, inspiring mural art along the alleyways of South L.A.
“Paint Out” beautifies and revives the neighborhood, while strengthening the economic and social health of the community and building social bonds between neighbors.
“Art + Food”
Sustainable & Healthy Food Choices in South L.A.
Five Points Youth Foundation created Art + Food out of a need for fresh, sustainable and healthy food choices in South LA, which suffers from inequalities in healthcare and nutritional resources.
“Art + Food” provides local resident with events that offer farm-to-table, vegetable-rich, vitamin-dense cuisine, prepared with an artistic, creative flare.
